Cyber threats are top concern for medium, large businesses: Travelers

Cyber threats are the leading business concern for medium and large companies this year, according to the 2025 Travelers Risk Index, released Tuesday.

Among businesses of all sizes, however, cyber risks ranked third as most concerning, with 56% of respondents saying they “worry some or a great deal” about such risks.

Broad economic uncertainty and medical cost inflation were both chosen by 58% of respondents as the top business concern.

Rounding out the top five were the impact of the global economy on a company 53%, and supply chain risks 51%.

The 56% that “worry some or a great deal” about cyber threats is down from 62% in 2024.

Despite the declining concern, cyberattacks were up, with 25% saying they had suffered a data breach or cyber event, compared with 24% in 2024.

This was the ninth time in the past 10 years the percentage of respondents who said their company has suffered a cyber event was higher than the year before.

Hart Research conducted a national online survey of 1,202 U.S. business insurance decision-makers regarding their top challenges from June 23 through July 6. The survey was commissioned by Travelers.
