DAC Beachcroft appoints Maria Cetta as Aviation Partner

DAC Beachcroft, an international law firm, has announced the appointment of Maria Cetta as a partner in its aviation practice.

Maria joins DAC Beachcroft from Clyde & Co, where she was a partner in its aviation liability practice for nearly 20 years. She became part of Clyde & Co following its merger with Beaumont and Son, where she had also been a partner.

Throughout her legal career, Maria has specialised in the aviation sector, representing airlines, airports, MROs, helicopter companies, ground handlers, airline catering companies, and their re/insurers.

She brings extensive experience managing major aviation losses, including advising on the Ukrainian International Airlines loss in January 2020. Maria’s expertise also covers complex claims related to air accidents, aircraft damage, and cargo losses, with a particular focus on Europe and the Middle East.

Her experience working with re/insurers includes airline and ground handler liabilities, subrogated recoveries, product liability, and coverage advice. She has also handled numerous high-value claims involving fatal accidents and personal injury for airlines.

Alex Stovold, Head of Aviation at DAC Beachcroft, commented, “Maria has an outstanding reputation within the aviation sector and we are thrilled to welcome her aboard. The breadth of her aviation practice, together with her strong connections, leading reputation in the market and international experience, will considerably enhance our aviation offering to clients.”

Liam O’Connell, Head of DAC Beachcroft’s Global Insurance practice in London, added, “The continued expansion of our aviation practice with the appointment of an aviation specialist of Maria’s calibre is a further demonstration of how we are building our international capabilities to achieve our ambition to be the law firm of choice for the global insurance market.”

“DACB’s international expansion in recent months, particularly the growth of its aviation and transport expertise across the globe, has been impressive,” said Cetta. “It’s an exciting time to be joining.”
