David Arick begins 2024 presidency of RIMS

David Arick, assistant treasurer, global risk management, at International Paper Co., based in Memphis, Tennessee, assumed the presidency of the Risk and Insurance Management Society Inc., effective Jan. 1.
Mr. Arick, a member of the New York-based organization for more than 20 years, joined the RIMS board of directors in 2019, and has served as secretary, treasurer and vice president, according to a RIMS statement issued Tuesday.
He was previously manager of insurance programs at General Electric Co. and prior to that held risk management roles at various companies, including Emerson Electric Co., Abbott Laboratories and Banc One Corp.
Mr. Arick succeeds Jennifer Santiago, director, risk management and safety, at Wakefern Food Corp.
Kristen Peed, head of corporate risk at Sequoia Benefits and Insurance Services LLC, was named vice president of RIMS.
Kevin Bates, group head of risk and insurance at LendLease, was named treasurer and Manuel Padilla, vice president, risk management and insurance at MacAndrews & Forbes Inc., was named secretary.
New RIMS board members in 2024 are Ann Barry, senior director, risk management at Palo Alto Networks Inc.; Will Lehman, global director of risk management at Cook Group Inc.; Tamieka Weeks, director, global risk management and insurance at Southwire Co.; and Robert Zhang, regional risk and compliance manager, Asia Pacific at Ikea.
Tina Gardiner, manager, risk management services, at the Regional Municipality of York, Ontario; Christy Kaufman, vice president, property/casualty risk and compliance at USAA; and Patrick Sterling, vice president of legendary people at Texas Roadhouse, are no longer on the RIMS board.
Mr. Sterling previously served as 2022 RIMS president.
