A New Jersey commercial baker has settled with the U.S. Department of Labor for $180,000 following an Occupational Safety and Health Administration investigation into a workplace incident that resulted in a worker losing part of a finger, the department announced Wednesday.
Paterson-based Valenti’s Bakery LLC was investigated in June 2023 following the incident, and in May 2024, OSHA inspectors found several hazards remained at the facility, the DOL said.
The settlement agreement between DOL and Valenti’s affirmed the citations issued after the follow-up inspection, which included two willful, one repeat, six serious and one failure-to-abate citations. Valenti’s also agreed to implement enhanced abatement measures as part of the settlement.
