Donnelly replaces Clarke at Marsh’s specialty unit

Marsh LLC on Monday named Pat Donnelly president of Marsh Specialty and global placement, succeeding Lucy Clarke.

Ms. Clarke, who joined Marsh through its 2019 purchase of Jardine Lloyd Thompson Group PLC, is joining Willis Towers Watson PLC in the third quarter of 2024, WTW said in a statement. Adam Garrard, who is currently president of the unit, will become chairman, risk and broking, when London-based Ms. Clarke joins WTW, the statement said. Ms. Clarke will report to WTW CEO Carl Hess.

Marsh also named Michelle Sartain president of Marsh U.S., succeeding Mr. Donnelly.

In his new role, Chicago-based Mr. Donnelly oversees Marsh Specialty’s global business, which includes aviation, construction, credit specialties, energy and power, professional lines, marine and cargo, and private equities, mergers and acquisitions, a Marsh statement said.

He also is responsible for Marsh’s global placement capabilities, including its retail and international placement hubs, captive solutions, claims, climate and sustainability, insurer consulting and portfolio solutions.

He will report to Martin South, president and CEO of Marsh.

New York-based Ms. Sartain, who was one of the 2022 Business Insurance Women to Watch, was previously head of Marsh Specialty, U.S. and Canada. She will report to Mr. South and Pat Tomlinson, CEO of Marsh McLennan U.S. and Canada, the statement said.
