Juan C. Andrade has resigned as CEO of commercial insurer and reinsurer Everest Group Ltd. to head personal lines insurer USAA, the companies announced late Wednesday.
Jim Williamson, executive vice president and group chief operating officer of Bermuda-based Everest, was named acting CEO, effective immediately, the company said in a statement.
“His appointment is consistent with the board’s succession planning process,” Chairman Joseph Taranto said in the statement.
Mr. Andrade will start his new role as president and CEO of USAA on April 2, San Antonio-based USAA said in a statement. He has served on USAA’s board for the past four years. He succeeds Wayne Peacock, who is retiring.
Mr. Andrade joined Everest from Chubb Ltd. as chief operating officer in 2019 and became CEO in 2020.
He had run Chubb’s international general insurance operations since Ace Ltd. acquired the company in 2015. He was previously an executive vice president of Ace and COO of Ace Overseas General.
