Everest Insurance names global chief actuary

Everest Insurance, the insurance division of Everest Group Ltd., Monday said Melissa McDermott has been appointed global chief actuary.

Ms. McDermott will work with the actuarial, underwriting, claims and reserving teams across Everest, a company statement said.

She will be based in New York and report directly to Mike Karmilowicz, president and CEO of Everest Insurance, the statement said.

She was most recently chief actuary for North America General Insurance at American International Group Inc., where she led the pricing, reserving and portfolio management strategy for several lines of business, the statement said. Prior to that, she was head of global specialty, insurance pricing at Axa XL.
