Everest names head of US wholesale, programs business

Everest Insurance, the insurance division of Everest Group Ltd., Wednesday named Stephen Buonpane to head up its U.S. wholesale and programs business.

He reports to Bill Hazelton, executive vice president of Everest Insurance and president of North America Insurance, in the newly created role.

Warren, New Jersey-based Mr. Buonpane previously was head of Everest’s casualty lines and industry practices business.

Danielle Stewart was named chief operating officer, reporting to Mr. Buonpane. Ms. Stewart, based in Los Angeles, is currently national head of wholesale distribution.

Everest last year established a standalone division focused on wholesale and programs business.

Separately, Everest Group said it has established a global broker management team and named Anthony Izzo as chief broking officer.

Mr. Izzo also retains his current role as head of global facultative & distribution for Everest Re. He reports to Jim Williamson, chief operating officer and head of insurance and reinsurance, and to Mike Karmilowicz, chairman, global insurance.

In addition, Everest said it has hired former Zurich North America financial lines leader Brian Zink as senior vice president, head of Everest Specialty Underwriters and U.S. financial lines.

He succeeds Rob Clark, who was named a global broker account lead, reporting to Mr. Izzo. Mr. Zink previously was head of financial lines for U.S. national accounts at Zurich. He reports to Mr. Hazelton.

Mark Shaw and Joe Stuhl were also named global broker account leads, Everest said. Mr. Shaw previously was UK commercial director at Everest Insurance and Mr. Stuhl previously was senior vice president of global distribution at Everest Re.

Nicole Mazer, previously business performance management, distribution lead at Everest Insurance, was appointed global broker performance manager.
