Independent London market wholesale insurance broker, Evolin Broking Limited, has launched its casualty division with a number of senior hires.
Firstly, the organisation has appointed Kalani Settle-Rhodes as head of casualty, where she will be based in London, reporting to managing director, Chris Baulf.
She joins Evolin from Bowring Marsh where she previously served as an international casualty broker for more than eight years. Prior to that, she spent 14 years working within underwriting at Aviva, where she mostly focused on complex commercial and high net worth business.
Next up, Evolin has hired Shelly Leake as a senior broker, also based in London, where she will report to Settle-Rhodes.
She is an industry veteran with extensive experience in broking, especially across the casualty market. Previously, she was part of the international casualty team at Marsh, and before that, she also held positions in the Marsh Casualty Claims department and Swinton Insurance.
And lastly, Oliver Hutchins joins the firm from Hugh J Boswell, taking on the role of account executive. In the role, he will also be based in London and will report to Settle-Rhodes.
Overall, Hutchins has more than 17 years of industry experience, holding roles in both broking and underwriting. During his tenure at Hugh J Boswell, Hutchins was a broker development manager, and prior to that, he served as a commercial account handler at Marsh.
Additionally, he also spent more than nine years at Aviva, mainly working as an underwriter.
Managing director, Chris Baulf, commented: “Understanding and adapting to our clients’ needs is where Evolin stands out. There is immense opportunity in the casualty market right now and bringing in this experienced team, led by Kalani, will allow us to capitalise on this. I am thrilled to welcome Kalani, Shelly and Oliver to the team and I look forward to working with them as we build out our casualty offering.”
Settle-Rhodes, said: “Casualty has the unique perspective of looking at the human effect and cost of any incident that may give rise to a claim. I am always looking for the solution to how we can best protect a business, focusing on presenting clients as an entity that deserves consideration, regardless of appetite, volatility and general market bias. This is at the core of why Shelly, Oliver and I made the choice to join Evolin – it recognises the individuals that comprise any business, keeping them at the forefront of their broking. I look forward to working with Chris and the rest of the team.”
