Florida considers another type of cancer for firefighter presumption

Florida lawmakers are considering a bill that would add leukemia to the list of cancers that qualify under the state’s existing presumption law for firefighters.

H.B. 87, filed Friday, would add “acute myeloid leukemia” to the list of 21 types of cancers already accepted under state workers compensation law for firefighters.

If passed the change would go into effect July 1.
