Gallagher appoints Stephen Smith to senior role in UK & Ireland Retail division

Insurance and reinsurance broking group Gallagher has announced the appointment of Stephen Smith as Managing Director of Broking & Placement for its UK & Ireland Retail division.
Smith will join Chief Executive Officer Nick Harris’ UK & Ireland executive team.
In his new role, Smith will lead Gallagher’s retail broking strategy in the UK & Ireland, overseeing the placement of insurance for clients across 500 markets. He will manage a team of around 80 broking and placement specialists across the company’s UK & Ireland network, working closely with insurers to deliver the best outcomes for clients.
Smith joined Gallagher in 2019 as part of the Stackhouse Poland acquisition, where he had served as Group Placement Director and held several other leadership roles over eight years with the insurance broker.
Most recently, he served as Head of Regional Broking & Placement at Gallagher, leading the company’s regional broking teams across the south of England.
