Gallagher buys surplus lines agency

Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. said Wednesday it has acquired Commercial Insurance Underwriters Inc., a Springfield, Missouri-based surplus lines agency.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Commercial Insurance, which has about a dozen staff, specializes in hard-to-place commercial and personal lines coverage, a Gallagher statement said.

The agency will come under the direction of Matt A. Lynch, head of central region-binding for Risk Placement Services Inc., Gallagher’s wholesale unit, the statement said.
