Gallagher hires Richardson as energy risk engineer to support oil & gas value chain

Insurance and reinsurance broking group Gallagher has appointed Darren Richardson as an energy risk engineer to support the oil and gas value chain operations.
From what Reinsurance News understands, in his new role, Richardson will also be responsible for supporting Gallagher’s clients that are looking to transition to more sustainable technologies and processes.
Richardson joins the firm from Zurich where he previously worked for the last eight years, most recently holding the role of Head of Sustainable Energy for North America.
During his time serving in that role, he advised on technologies such as e-fuels, bio-gas, bio-diesel, renewable diesel, renewable natural gas, carbon capture & sequestration, hydrogen and small modular nuclear.
Before that role, he served as a Risk Engineer for the firm’s oil, gas and petrochemicals downstream energy operations.
In addition, Richardson has also previously held roles at BP and GE Oil & Gas as a Petroleum Engineer.
As well as this, Richardson also has expertise in developing models to enable clients to perform full environmental disclosures through life cycle analysis methodology.
Furthermore, Richardson also has experience in undertaking risk assessments at energy operations including at refineries, fractionators, gas plants, chemical plants, offshore drilling rigs and production platforms, tank terminals, compressor stations, bio-gas and hydrogen facilities in order to produce useful insight on the risk to the market.
