Gallagher Re appoints Head of Asia Pacific Cyber

Reinsurance broker Gallagher Re has announced the appointment of Sie Liang Lau as Head of Asia Pacific Cyber, a Singapore-based role.

Lau is a UK qualified Actuary with over two decades of experience in the re/insurance industry. He joined Gallagher Re in May 2023 as Head of Analytics, Rest of Asia.

Previously, he spent more than 12 years at reinsurer SCOR, most recently as Head of Lloyd’s Capital Provision & Cyber, UK & London Market.

Prior to that he served as a Long Tail Lines Senior Underwriter following over six years as Chief Pricing Actuary, responsible for managing the Asia Pacific team.

Before SCOR, Lau spent over five years as Syndicate Actuary for Sagicor at Lloyd’s (formerly Gerling UK), where he was responsible for providing actuarial support to both of the firm’s Branch and Syndicate operations.

Additionally, since 2017, Lau has been serving as the Chair of the IFoA GI Asia International Working Party, working on various GI topics ranging from Insurtech, Cyber, Climate Risk, to Innovation and Capital.

Lau is one of Gallagher Re’s most recent appointments. Earlier in the month the broker announced the promotion of André Gerling to Head of Region for DACH, Netherlands and Central and Eastern Europe; and Wei Hou was appointed Head of Life and Health, UK and Ireland (UK&I).
