Gallagher Re names international head

Gallagher Re, the reinsurance brokerage unit of Arthur J. Gallagher & Co., Wednesday named Dirk Spenner as CEO, international, replacing Tony Melia, who is retiring.

Munich, Germany-based Mr. Spenner, who joined Gallagher Re’s predecessor company Willis Re in 1996 and currently runs the brokerage’s business in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, will take on the new role from June 1, a Gallagher Re spokeswoman said.

Mr. Melia was named CEO of Willis Re International in 2012.
