Gen Re promotes Beardsley and Kang to strengthen Mutual Practice team

Gen Re, the global reinsurance subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway, has appointed Craig Beardsley as Treaty North America Manager for its Mutual Practice team, while Erin Kang has been named Chief Underwriter for the same team, alongside her ongoing role managing Regional & Specialty Underwriting.

Beardsley has worked at Gen Re for over two decades, serving in a series of senior roles.

Meanwhile, Kang has been at the firm for just over five years, having previously spent long tenures at AIG and Chubb.

Kara Raiguel, President and Chief Executive Officer at Gen Re, commented, “Craig has been instrumental in the management of the Mutual Practice business since 2018 when he was named Chief Underwriter.

“Known for his sincerity, thoughtfulness, and practical approach, Craig excels at devising solutions that serve the interests of our clients.”

In related news, earlier this year Gen Re, in collaboration with CME, developed a fully digital underwriting solution for the life insurance industry for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) and East Mediterranean countries.

The tool reportedly conducts a thorough analysis of an applicant’s health, lifestyle, and occupation, by integrating Insurtech tools, including AI, to generate rapid health insights and PPG technology with advanced algorithms for analysing vital signs and remote health parameters.
