Guidewire introduces Niseko to enhance insurance financial and risk insights

Guidewire, a provider of software solutions for the insurance industry, has released Niseko, its latest update aimed at offering insurers improved visibility into financial performance and risk exposure.

Niseko provides developers with tools designed to simplify the process of updating custom software extensions, automate and reuse core business functions to speed up development, and improve operational efficiency through automation.

This release introduces new capabilities intended to assist insurers in several areas. It includes the Policy Insurance Data Model and Claims Insurance Data Model, which are auto-generated dimensional models that make it easier to access core InsuranceSuite policy and claims data.

The development workflow is enhanced by Guidewire Functions, which use a Functions-as-a-Service model to allow developers to quickly create modular and reusable business logic, intended to improve software reliability and flexibility.

Customization is supported through a new Extension Layer, offering a framework that helps protect custom extensions from issues during updates. Niseko also incorporates the HazardHub Wildfire Risk Score 3.0, an updated wildfire risk assessment tool developed by Guidewire. Trained on extensive data and tested against real claims, this model aims to provide more accurate wildfire risk evaluations.

Task management in PolicyCenter is automated via the Autopilot Activity Handling Integration, assigning tasks to underwriters based on predefined rules. The release also includes Premium Analysis Business Intelligence Content, enabling insurers to analyse premium data across lines of business and over time to better manage risk and compliance.

Finally, the Loss Analysis BI Content offers tools to analyse losses—including paid, incurred, reserves, recovery, and adjustment expenses—across historical data and product lines. This helps insurers track emerging trends in claims and supports loss control efforts.

“With Niseko, developers now have access to pre-built insurance data models that enhance access to complex core data and come with built-in financial and operational intelligence for improved decision-making,” added Diego Devalle, Chief Product Development Officer, Guidewire.

“Niseko also introduces a dedicated extension layer that simplifies software customisation, and Guidewire Functions that automate business tasks and logic to enhance the development process.”

“Every Guidewire release is designed to remove complexity and deliver meaningful value for our customers,” said Michael Howe, Chief Product Officer, Guidewire.

“Niseko is a reflection of that commitment, equipping insurers with the clarity, speed, and agility they need to thrive in a fast-changing P&C insurance industry.”
