Harford Mutual names new leadership to support business expansion

Harford Mutual Insurance Group, a provider of property and casualty insurance, has announced several leadership appointments aimed at reinforcing and advancing its strategic business objectives.

Shane Crockett, CPCU, PMP, AFIS, has been named Vice President and Chief Underwriting Officer. In this role, he will oversee all underwriting business units, with a focus on driving profitability and growth. Crockett brings over 15 years of experience in insurance underwriting and leadership.

Before joining Harford Mutual, he served as Senior Director, Underwriting and Production, Agriculture at Markel, a global specialty insurance provider.

Crockett has also held senior roles at Liberty Mutual, including Vice President, Regional Underwriting Manager for the Mid-Atlantic Region. He holds a bachelor’s degree from the United States Naval Academy and an MBA from the University of Maryland, College Park.

Bryan Yekstat, CPCU, AIC, has been promoted to Assistant Vice President of Claims. Yekstat will be responsible for ensuring efficient claims handling and improving operational processes.

He joined Harford Mutual in 2011 as a Claims Representative and has since advanced through roles of increasing responsibility, most recently serving as Director of Claims for Workers’ Compensation. Yekstat earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from Salisbury University.

Matthew Summerell, CPCU, FLMI, AAI, has been promoted to Assistant Vice President of Business Development. In this capacity, he will lead the development and execution of Harford Mutual’s comprehensive Business Development strategy, foster strategic partnerships, and pursue growth opportunities across the company’s service areas.

Summerell, who joined Harford Mutual in 2018 as Director of Business Development, has more than 20 years of industry experience. Prior to joining Harford Mutual, he held positions as Senior Territory Manager at Liberty Mutual Insurance and Marketing Manager at Central Mutual Insurance Company. Summerell holds a bachelor’s degree from Appalachian State University.

Craig White has joined Harford Mutual as Director of Information Security. White will focus on strengthening the company’s cybersecurity measures, leading efforts to reduce risks, and overseeing the implementation of proactive security strategies.

With over 17 years of experience in the information security and technology sectors, White previously worked at Tower Federal Credit Union, where he held roles including Manager of Technical Services, Manager of Information Security, and Assistant Vice President of Information Security.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in cybersecurity from the University of Maryland University College and a master’s degree in Information Security and Assurance from Norwich University.
