Hartford names head of wholesale at Navigators

Hartford Financial Services Group Inc. on Monday named Michael Garrison, former head of global construction at Allied World Assurance Co. Holdings Ltd., as head of wholesale for its Navigators Insurance Co. unit.

Mr. Garrison replaces Tim Ryan, who left the company in August to join Morristown, New Jersey-based ProSight Specialty Insurance Group Inc. as president.

Mr. Garrison will report to Hartford’s head of global specialty, Adrien Robinson, and will be based in Hartford’s Red Bank, New Jersey office from Nov. 1.

As head of wholesale, Mr. Garrison will lead strategic direction, growth and underwriting for the business and manage relationships with the company’s wholesale distribution partners, the Hartford, Connecticut-based insurer said in a statement.

Prior to his role at Allied World, Mr. Garrison served as senior vice president and chief underwriting officer at Starr Insurance Cos.
