HDI Global underscores the strategic importance of Alternative Risk Transfer (ART) by integrating its Risk Finance solutions at Board level under Dr Dirk Höring, following the successful development of its HDI Enablers unit.
As risks become more complex, complementing traditional insurance products with effective ART solutions is gaining momentum.
HDI Enablers, established in August 2022, is a globally operating unit specialising in Risk Finance. Its offerings include smoothing or self-insurance layers (Virtual Captives), captive stop-loss, parametric re/insurance, and ART Affinity. These structured and parametric solutions also efficiently interact with corporations’ captives.
HDI Enablers is led by Eric Joly-Pottuz, an experienced expert in Alternative Risk Transfer. Since its inception, HDI Enablers has become a well-established player and a specialised division for innovative risk financing solutions in the European market.
Joly-Pottuz said, “The mission was to enhance our product offering with robust and flexible solutions that closely align with our clients’ risks and unlock new possibilities for them.”
Building on this success, HDI Global has now integrated Risk Finance at the Board level under Dr Höring, who is also responsible for Property, Marine, and Engineering Insurance as well as HDI Risk Consulting.
“Integrating Risk Finance Solutions into our service portfolio reflects our commitment to being a trusted Partner in Transformation to our clients. We deliver comprehensive, forward-looking strategies to help organisations navigate complex risk landscapes and build long-term resilience. In today’s environment of increasing volatility, it’s not the absence of loss events that defines exposure – it’s the understanding of risk and the ability to respond effectively. Risk finance and captive solutions play a vital role in enabling that preparedness and protection”, said Dr Höring.
A recent example of a new solution around parametric coverage is the collaboration between HDI Global and Descartes Underwriting this month to introduce a parametric earthquake insurance product to the Japanese market.
