HDI Global hires Axis exec to direct liability underwriting

HDI Global Insurance Co. said Tuesday it had named former Axis Capital Holdings Ltd. executive David Sapia director of liability underwriting, a newly created position.

Mr. Sapia, most recently vice president, excess casualty underwriter for the West Region for Axis, will be responsible for the profitability, growth and overall strategic direction of HDI’s U.S. casualty business.

Based in Los Angeles, he will report to Jim Clark, CEO of HDI Global USA.
