Helios names John Chambers as Interim Exec Chairman as Michael Wade steps down

Lloyds-focused investment vehicle Helios Underwriting has appointed John Chambers, currently a Non-Executive Director as Interim Executive Chairman, as Michael Wade decides to step down from the role at the end of February.
Since he joined as Non-Executive Chairman in June 2023, Wade has successfully guided Helios through a period of change and strong performance, and leaves the firm to continue developing his non-executive portfolio.
As Executive Chairman, Wade oversaw the firm’s portfolio restructuring, materially reducing underwriting risk, gearing and overall cost base for 2025.
Helios clarified that these strategic priorities remain unchanged under Chambers.
In July 2024, Chambers joined Helios’ Board as an Independent Non-Executive Director with extensive underwriting and executive experience across the London Market.
He was latterly Director of Underwriting at AEGIS London, where he helped build the business into one of the largest in the London Market.
He has considerable experience running a regulated insurer, from business planning through underwriting management to risk management, and financial and regulatory reporting.
Chambers commented, “On behalf of the board, I thank Michael for his leadership and he leaves with our best wishes. He has played a key role in Helios’ strong growth and successful restructuring, leaving the business well-positioned for the future. As we look ahead, I look forward to undertaking a search for a new Chief Executive Officer.
