Helix Underwriting Partners launches professional lines program

Bermuda-based managing general agent Helix Underwriting Partners Ltd. said Wednesday it has launched a professional lines program led by former Axa XL underwriting leader Matt Irvine.

The program is backed by Somers Re Ltd., a Bermuda-based reinsurer owned by Arch Capital Group Ltd., Kelso & Co. and Warburg Pincus.

Helix will offer up to $10 million in capacity for directors and officers liability, errors and omissions, employment practices liability, wage and hour, transactional liability, and cyber liability insurance, Helix said.

Mr. Irvine will serve as Helix’s chief underwriting officer for the professional lines program. Before joining Helix late last year, Mr. Irvine was CUO, financial lines Bermuda, at Axa XL, a unit of Axa SA. He joined predecessor company, Brockbank Underwriting Agency, in 1998.
