Higginbotham buys Ohio agency

Higginbotham said Wednesday it has bought Community Insurance Group Ltd., a Sidney, Ohio-based agency.

Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Community Insurance, which has about 15 staff, places commercial and personal lines coverages, including agribusiness, life and employee benefits. It is led by Jeff Sargeant, agency president.

Fort Worth, Texas-based Higginbotham is the 21st-largest brokerage of U.S. business, according to Business Insurance’s most recent ranking.

Higginbotham said that with this deal, it now has a presence in 16 states.
