Howden Re bolsters International team with three hires

Howden Re (formerly Howden Tiger), the reinsurance broking arm of Howden Group Holdings, has announced the addition of Terrence McDowell, Melodie Vanderpuye, and Hannah Ferriday Lanner to its International team.

The rebranding to Howden Re was announced last week, and the trio of hires comes as the reinsurance broker continues to expand its global expertise.

McDowell joins Howden Re International Treaty as a Managing Director based in London. He joins from Guy Carpenter, Marsh McLennan’s reinsurance broking arm, where he spent three years from April 2021.

Prior to this, McDowell spent more than three decades at re/insurance broker Aon, including as Head of Broking (Nordics and Baltics).

Vanderpuye has moved to Howden Re from reinsurance giant Swiss Re, where she worked for more than three years as a Senior Catastrophe Model Specialist. Earlier in her career she spent almost four years with Qatar Re, and before this, worked at Aon, Tokio Marine Kiln, and Brit Insurance.

Vanderpuye will be tasked with developing Howden Re’s analytics proposition to Global Clients in International markets.

Lanner has joined Howden Re’s International Nordics team as Senior Client Coordinator. She joins from insurance and reinsurance broking group Aon, where she served as Senior Client Coordinator from September 2021.

Previously, Lanner spent time with Zurich Insurance as an Underwriting Service Specialist in Financial Lines, and also with broker WTW in both London and Stockholm.
