ICEYE expands capabilities with largest SAR satellite launch to date

ICEYE, a global leader in Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) satellite operations, has successfully launched and deployed six new SAR satellites into orbit, further expanding its constellation and capabilities.

ICEYE revealed that satellites in this latest launch were integrated via Exolaunch and were part of the Transporter-14 rideshare mission with SpaceX from Vandenberg Space Force Base in California, USA.

All of the satellites on the Transporter-14 launch were reportedly 25 cm class collectors, the highest fidelity in the industry. This latest launch brings ICEYE’s total SAR satellites in orbit to 54, which is the largest in the world.

For those unaware, ICEYE’s constellation provides high-resolution, near-real-time Earth observation data regardless of weather or lighting conditions.

For the re/insurance industry, this capability enables rapid and precise assessment of natural disasters, such as floods, hurricanes, and earthquakes, facilitating faster claims validation, improved risk modelling, and more accurate underwriting, ultimately leading to enhanced resilience and operational efficiency.

In related news, ICEYE has additionally revealed that it has been selected to provide Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance systems to the Royal Netherlands Air Force.

The first satellite of the agreement was launched into orbit aboard the Transporter-14 rideshare mission with SpaceX. ICEYE plans to launch more than 20 new satellites annually in 2025 and beyond.
