A shareholder advocacy group is calling on seven prominent U.S. companies to study the feasibility of providing two weeks of paid sick leave, as well as two weeks of paid leave to care for a sick or quarantined family member.
The Interfaith Center on Corporate Responsibility filed its proposals Thursday with CVS Health Corp., Dollar General Corp., Kohl’s Corp., The Kroger Co., McDonald’s Corp., Walmart Inc. and Yum! Brands Inc., the parent of restaurant chains KFC, Pizza Hut and Taco Bell. Its proposals are not limited to the current COVID-19 pandemic.
Workplaces that adopt permanent paid leave policies will help mitigate the risk of outbreaks and closures by allowing workers to safely quarantine and recover at home, the New York-based shareholder organization said in a statement.
