IQUW boosts Energy team with three key appointments

IQUW, a property and specialty re/insurer, has strengthened its Energy team with three new appointments.

Chris Touhey joins as Senior Underwriter, Energy, alongside Darren Stewart as Head of Marine, Energy, & Aviation Claims, and Darryl Krobel as MEA Engineer.

Touhey brings 25 years of industry experience, having joined IQUW from Liberty Specialty Markets, where he was Head of Offshore Energy for over four years. Prior to that, he spent a decade at Liberty Mutual Insurance Europe Limited, and held underwriting roles at Markel International and Brit Insurance.

Krobel, who joined IQUW in December 2024, brings 20 years of experience in reservoir, exploration, and petroleum engineering in the oil and gas sector. He most recently served as Reservoir Engineering Manager at Octavia Energy and has held similar roles at Sasol, NuVista Energy, Cordero Energy, and Burlington Resources.

Touhey and Krobel will both be based in London, reporting to David Message, Lead Underwriter, Energy, and will work alongside Teniola Tijani and Chris Jones.

Stewart joined in November 2024 from Canopius Group, where he was Deputy Head of Short Tail Claims – Energy, Marine & Engineering. Before that, he was Senior Claims Underwriter – Marine & Energy at Hiscox and held marine roles at JLT Group.

Stewart will also be based in London and report to Gavin Williams, Head of Claims.
