James River adds former Everest Re exec as group CUO

James River Group Holdings Ltd. said Monday it has hired former Everest Re Group Ltd. executive Mike Hoffmann as group chief underwriting officer.

In the newly created role, Mr. Hoffmann will lead underwriting, enterprise risk and ceded reinsurance strategy across the group. He will report to James River CEO Frank D’Orazio.

Mr. Hoffmann was most recently head of risk and ceded reinsurance at Everest Insurance, the primary insurance arm of Everest Re. Prior to that he worked at Allied World Assurance Co. Holdings Ltd. for 15 years.
