KCC releases new version of Severe Convective Storm Model

Catastrophe modeler Karen Clark & Co. announced Wednesday the release of its U.S. Severe Convective Storm Model Version 4.0, which expands physical modeling techniques for the peril.

The updated SCS model is based on high-resolution 4D physical models of the atmosphere that incorporate the atmospheric variables that drive SCS, producing high-resolution footprints for hail, tornadoes and straight-line winds.

The updated model also enhances the accuracy of the loss estimates for both the hail and tornado/wind sub-perils, KCC said, and offers explicit support for roof actual cash value endorsements.
