Liberty Mutual names Sweeney chairman, Long retires

Liberty Mutual Insurance Co. on Wednesday named President and CEO Timothy M. Sweeney to the additional role of chairman.

He succeeds David H. Long, who is also retiring as a director of the company.

Mr. Long, who spent 40 years at Liberty Mutual, was named president in 2010, CEO in 2011 and chairman in 2013.

Mr. Sweeney succeeded Mr. Long as the top executive officer of Liberty Mutual in 2023. He joined the company in 1993.
