Lloyd’s Market Association welcomes John Levett as Head of Regulatory Affairs

The Lloyd’s Market Association (LMA) has announced the appointment of John Levett as Head of Regulatory Affairs, effective immediately, where he will report to Arabella Ramage, the Legal Director at the LMA.

Levett became part of the LMA in October 2023 as Senior Executive for Regulatory Affairs.

Since then, he has worked on several key consultations with the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and the Prudential Regulatory Authority.

Additionally, he chaired the LMA’s committee on Environmental and Climate Litigation.

Arabella Ramage, Legal Director of the LMA, commented: “The LMA is fortunate to have someone of John’s experience and knowledge of the insurance market as we work towards ensuring our members are appropriately represented with respect to regulatory regimes around the globe.”

Prior to joining the LMA, Levett held the position of Senior Regulatory Lead at RSA Insurance. Between 2017 and 2022, he worked at the FCA as a technical specialist in general insurance compliance, with a focus on product governance.

Levett added: “I am delighted to be taking up this role at such an important time for our industry and our members. Smarter regulation can only help reinforce the London market’s global reputation as the centre of insurance and reinsurance technical expertise.”

He will be supported in his new role by Alex Sheehan, who has recently joined the LMA as Senior Executive for Regulatory Affairs and will step into Levett’s previous role.

Sheila Cameron, Chief Executive of the LMA, said: “As well as wishing John all the very best in this new role, I’d like to extend my thanks to his predecessor Steve Morrell for all his hard work over many years for the LMA.”
