Lloyd’s of London said Thursday its chief of markets, Patrick Tiernan, will be CEO effective June 1.
He will replace John Neal, who announced earlier this year he would leave to become CEO of reinsurance at Aon PLC and global chairman of climate solutions at the broker.
Mr. Tiernan joined Lloyd’s as chief of markets in May 2021. In this role, he is responsible for underwriting, claims, exposure management, market oversight and international regulation, distribution, new entrant strategy, Lloyd’s Global Network, Lloyd’s Lab, Lloyd’s Academy, and Lloyd’s global agents.
Before joining Lloyd’s, he held various senior roles at Aviva.
Mr. Tiernan said his primary focus will be supporting the commercial success of Lloyd’s participants while keeping an “iron grip” on underwriting discipline and safeguarding the financial strength of the corporation.
