Mark Engel named CEO of Marine & Energy for RSUM

Ryan Specialty, a global specialty insurance firm, has announced the appointment of Mark Engel as Chief Executive Officer of Marine & Energy for its specialty underwriting segment, Ryan Specialty Underwriting Managers (RSUM).

In this role, Engel will oversee operations, growth strategy, and positioning for the Marine & Energy practice.

He will be based in New York City, with all seven of RSUM’s Energy and Marine managing general underwriters (MGUs) reporting to him.

Engel is an experienced insurance executive with a background in underwriting and broking across London, US, and international markets.

He joins RSUM from RB Jones, where he spent the past five years, most recently serving as Senior Vice President and Managing Director.

Before that, he was Niche President – Marine and Energy at ProSight Specialty Insurance. He also spent eight years at AIG in senior Marine roles and six years at Marsh.
