Markel completes acquisition of specialist marine MGA MECO

Markel, the insurance division of Markel Group Inc., has completed its acquisition of The MECO Group Limited, a specialist marine managing general agent (MGA), following regulatory approvals.

The transaction follows Markel’s April 2025 announcement that it had entered into an agreement to acquire the MGA.

MECO will now trade as MECO Specialty within the Specialty division of Markel International’s Wholesale operation, led by Tom Hillier, Managing Director – Specialty.
