Marsh McLennan sued London-based rival Howden on Friday over its alleged poaching of 140 Florida employees.
The state court suit follows a federal suit filed Monday against former Marsh executives who were slated to join Howden today.
In Marsh & McLennan Cos. Inc. v. Howden US Services LLC and Howden US Specialty LLC, filed in Delaware’s Court of Chancery, Marsh McLennan alleges Howden conspired with the former executives to “lift out entire business units from Marsh McLennan and to poach its clients.”
The alleged scheme exploited confidential information and interfered with employment agreements, according to the suit.
“None of the employees who left Marsh McLennan applied for, submitted a resume to, or interviewed with Howden,” the suit says.
Howden used confidential information obtained through the former executives, led by former Florida zone leader Michael Parrish, to contact the employees, Marsh McLennan alleges.
At least eight Marsh clients have moved to Howden, the company alleges.
Howden declined to comment on the suit.
