Marsh McLennan Agency, the small and midsized brokerage unit of Marsh LLC, said Tuesday it has agreed to acquire a pair of Louisiana-based agencies — Louisiana Cos. and Querbes & Nelson.
Terms of the transactions, which are expected to close by the end of the first quarter, were not disclosed.
On closing, Kevin Briggs, current president and COO of Baton Rouge-based Louisiana Cos., will become CEO of both agencies, while George Nelson, managing director and co-owner of Louisiana Cos., will become a senior adviser.
Some 80 employees, including Mr. Nelson; Mike Belanger, president, COO and co-owner of Shreveport-based Q&N; and Ryan Allen, chief sales officer of Louisiana Cos., will join MMA and continue to operate out of their current offices.
Founded in 1890, Louisiana Cos. provides business and personal lines coverage to businesses and individuals, with a focus on the construction, manufacturing, distributor, health care and hospitality industries.
Q&N, founded in 1914, offers commercial insurance, employee benefits and alternative risk financing consulting to energy services, commercial contractors and transportation businesses.
