Med mal insurer files to expand into New Jersey

Admitted medical malpractice insurer EmPRO Insurance Co., a unit of Physicians’ Reciprocal Insurers, said Tuesday it has filed to expand into New Jersey.

Roslyn, New York-based EmPRO, which said that with its parent company it is the third-largest admitted med mal insurer in New York, said in a statement it has filed to become an admitted insurer in New Jersey as well.

It said it expects to begin issuing policies in New Jersey by midyear.

EmPRO is capitalized with more than $100 million and managed by PRIMMA LLC.
