Med mal insurer names CEO

Physicians Insurance announced Friday that Dr. David Carlson will be the Seattle-based insurer’s next CEO, effective Nov. 1.
He succeeds William Cotter, who is retiring after heading the medical malpractice mutual since 2019.
Previously, Dr. Carlson was chief physician officer at MultiCare Health System in Tacoma, Washington.
He has served on Physicians Insurance’s board since 2018 and was chairman from 2018 to 2023.
