NAIC names Gary D. Anderson CEO

Massachusetts Insurance Commissioner Gary D. Anderson on Monday was named CEO of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners.

Mr. Anderson will take up the CEO role by May 1, after completing his term as Massachusetts insurance commissioner, a role he has served in since 2017.

Andy Beal, chief operating officer and chief legal officer, has served as acting CEO of the NAIC since last year. His appointment followed the resignation of former NAIC CEO Michael F. Consedine in April 2023.

Mr. Anderson is secretary of the Northeast Zone and serves on various NAIC committees, including the financial regulation standards and accreditation; financial condition; and the audit committees. He has also chaired the international insurance relations committee since 2019.

Mr. Anderson is also vice chair of the International Association of Insurance Supervisors executive committee.
