Nationwide hires former Arch exec to lead new E&S property unit

Nationwide Insurance Thursday named Tonya Courtney, formerly with Arch Insurance Co., to lead its newly launched excess and surplus brokerage property unit.

She will report to David Nelson, executive vice president, E&S wholesale.

Atlanta-based Ms. Courtney joined Nationwide in December as senior vice president of E&S brokerage property. Prior to that, she was regional vice president at Arch, where she led the Southeast region E&S property team.

The E&S brokerage property unit will provide tailored non-admitted wholesale products and services for hard-to-place property risks across various industries, Nationwide said.

The unit is expected to open for business in the second half of the year.
