NewRe appoints Iris Urban as Chief Underwriting Officer

NewRe, a property and casualty (P&C) reinsurance company part of the Munich Re Group, has announced the appointment of Iris Urban as Chief Underwriting Officer (CUO) for its non-life business, effective March 1, 2025.
In this role, she will oversee underwriting strategy and management, as well as portfolio optimisation, to drive sustainable growth and profitability across NewRe’s P&C operations.
Urban joins NewRe from Munich Re, where she spent 25 years in various senior underwriting roles across regions such as Japan, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Europe. Most recently, she served as Chief Underwriting Officer for Munich Re’s German P&C market.
