Oaktree names Cyril Martin MD and Head of EMEA Insurance Solutions

Cyril Martin has joined global investment manager Oaktree as Managing Director and Head of EMEA Insurance Solutions, a London-based role.

In his new position, Martin will be crucial in expanding and managing Oaktree’s insurance client network across the EMEA region, while simultaneously spearheading the development and implementation of insurance analytics globally, the firm noted.

Martin will be reporting to Greg Halagan, Managing Director and Global Head of Insurance Solutions at Oaktree, who commented: “Oaktree has been managing capital on behalf of insurance clients for nearly 30 years.

“As the sophistication of our insurance clients continues to grow, and demand for alternative and credit investments persists, this hire reflects our commitment to the EMEA region and our clients. We are delighted to welcome Cyril to Oaktree and to the continued growth in our global insurance team.”

The executive is joining Oaktree from Aviva Investors where he most recently served as Head of Investment Solutions.

There, he led a team in charge of designing and implementing investment strategies across a broad range of client types, solving for objectives such as accounting, capital, regulatory, and sustainability considerations.

Before his seven year tenure at Aviva Investors, Martin was a director at PwC where he advised insurance companies with respect to Solvency II and Matching Adjustment strategies, internal processes, and balance sheet optimization.
