Ondine Bourrut Lacouture to serve as Active Underwriter of Arch Syndicate 1955

Bermuda-headquartered insurer and reinsurer Arch Capital Group Ltd. has promoted Ondine Bourrut Lacouture as an Active Underwriter of Arch Syndicate 1955 at Lloyd’s.

Lacouture succeeds Simon Williams, who held the role since Syndicate 1955 was acquired by Arch in 2019.

Most recently, she served as the Head of Long Tail Lines of Arch Syndicate at Lloyd’s, a role she has held for over five years.

Before this, she was at Barbican Insurance Group, which was acquired by Arch in 2019, for over eight years.

At Barbican, she held the roles of Head of Insurance, Business Group Leader of Casualty Treaty, Healthcare and A&H, and Underwriting Manager of North American Casualty Treaty.

In the past, Lacouture was the Senior Casualty Underwriter for Faraday Underwriting Limited for over five years and VP Casualty at The ALEA Group for seven years.

Additionally, Williams will continue in his role as Chief Strategy and Distribution Officer of Arch Insurance International, which he has held since 2018.

Since the acquisition, Arch’s insurance and reinsurance teams have grown the stamp capacity of Syndicate 1955 more than three times, deploying cycle management and portfolio optimisation to enhance profitability.

According to the firm, Syndicate 1955 is now a highly diversified and profitable vehicle for it and its supporting third-party capital.
