Orendorf named Chief Underwriting Officer at Chard Re

William Orendorf has been promoted to the role of Chief Underwriting Officer (CUO) at reinsurance-linked investment manager Chard Re.

Orendorf, who has over two decades of industry experience, has been part of the company since 2022, when he joined as Senior Portfolio Analyst.

Prior to joining Chard Re, the executive served as Underwriter, North American Property at AXIS RE, a role he held for two years following his tenure at Guy Carpenter.

Before Guy Carpenter, where he served a Senior Vice President for close to three years, Orendorf was a Vice President at Chubb Tempest Re, and an Assistant Vice President at ACE Tempest Re before that.

Orendorf also spent close to eight years at Transatlantic Reinsurance, where he held a number of positions, including as Underwriting Assistant, Underwriter and Senior Underwriter.

Based in Bermuda, Chard Re Investment Management Ltd. was launched in 2019 by Rick Montgomerie and Charlie Vaughan.

The firm has access to a targeted diversified portfolio of catastrophe occurrence business protecting small discreet mutual / regional companies in North America and some International territories.
