OSHA announces more COVID-19 compliance fines

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration issued $3.9 million in coronavirus-related fines last year resulting from 300 workplace inspections, the agency said Friday.

The latest round of citations totaled $81,159 against six establishments inspected between Dec. 25 and Dec. 31. Most are nursing and rehabilitation facilities, which were assessed fines ranging from $9.446 to $21,591, OSHA said.

Among the COVID-19-related citations OSHA issued in 2020 were: failure to implement a written respiratory program; failure to provide medical evaluations, respirator fit tests and training on the proper use of a respirator and personal protective equipment; and failure to report injuries or fatalities.
