OSHA says American Airlines retaliated against flight attendants

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration announced that an investigation into American Airlines Inc. found that the company retaliated against flight attendants who reported worker illnesses caused by toxic fumes entering aircraft cabins.

OSHA said in a statement last week that a whistleblower investigation initiated on Aug. 2, 2022, found that the airline docked attendance points for flight attendants and discouraged them from reporting work-related injuries and illnesses.

OSHA is proposing $6,837 in penalties following its investigation.
