Patriot acquires California-based brokerage

Patriot Growth Insurance Services LLC said Wednesday it has acquired The Dougherty Co., a Long Beach, California-based brokerage.

Founded in 1933, Dougherty has about 10 employees and specializes in commercial, marine and captive insurance programs in addition to personal lines.

Dougherty will continue to operate from its current location in Signal Hill, California.

Patriot also acquired Cypress, California-based Bowermaster Insurance Brokers in 2020.

Patriot is the 35th-largest brokerage of U.S. business, according to Business Insurance’s most recent ranking.
