Peak launching North America reinsurance unit

Peak Reinsurance Co. Ltd. Wednesday announced the establishment of Peak Reinsurance North America Ltd., based in Bermuda.
Peak Re NA is licensed as a Class 3B insurer in Bermuda and will focus on underwriting casualty reinsurance, the Hong Kong-based reinsurer parent said in a statement.
Gene Zhang, head of U.S. market for Peak Re and head of Peak Capital, is CEO of Peak Re North America, according to an email from a spokeswoman.
The launch of Peak Re North America is a further step in Peak Group’s global growth strategy, Franz-Josef Hahn, Group CEO of Peak Re, said in the statement.
