Heavy rain and severe weather that affected parts of the central and southern U.S. this past week could lead to total economic and insured losses in the hundreds of millions of dollars, Aon said in its Weekly Cat Report released Friday.
Chattanooga, Tennessee, and Milwaukee were among the hardest hit by heavy rains, leading to severe flooding damage and at least three deaths.
Minnesota, Nebraska and Texas were affected by separate severe weather events.
Flash flooding across the Chattanooga area, including nearby towns like East Ridge, prompted local officials to declare a state of emergency in Hamilton County, although initial damage assessments were less severe than expected.
More property damage occurred in the Milwaukee metro area due to widespread flooding, which caused hundreds of vehicles to be submerged on roads, highways and especially underpasses.
